Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
