The families of teenagers lost after a tragic inferno at a venue in a Swiss ski resort are confronting an painful period of uncertainty for answers and requesting clues about their family members via social media.

The fire engulfed the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Confirmed footage reveal the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the fatalities of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and hurt another 119.
