The Actress States Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ That’s Ripping the Country Apart
Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she believes it's no longer appropriate to speak out countering the Trump administration, fearing it could exacerbate unhelpful debate and increase separation within the country.
‘I Question the Usefulness’, Explains the Actress
Speaking with media, Lawrence shared, “When Trump was first in office, I thought I was moving hastily like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, election after election, public figures do not make a difference at all on voter decisions.”
Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just voicing my thoughts on a matter that’s going to worsen tensions tearing the nation apart.”
Political Evolution
Lawrence has previously been open about voting for both Republican and Democratic contenders over the years. Growing up with conservative Republicans in her home state, she voted for the Republican nominee in the 2008 election prior to switching to the Democrats and explaining she recognized during President Obama’s term that supporting the GOP was opposing her individual liberties as a female citizen.
Previous Comments
Several years ago, she stated that Trump winning the presidency could represent “a catastrophic event” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “as I think she’s a strong contender and I trust that she will do whatever she can to protect abortion access.”

Lawrence was joined by most of Hollywood in her opposition to Donald Trump as a presidential contender, but the lack of leverage public figures have over the electoral decisions was underscored by Trump’s victory.
“This upcoming term appears changed,” commented the actress of his leadership. “Since he said what he was going to do. We understood his record for four years. He was transparent. And voters made that decision.”
New Release
Jennifer Lawrence is discussing her new film, Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she stars as a recent parent who struggles with her emotional state in the countryside. During a press conference for the movie in Venice, the star spoke about the conflict in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s devastating. What’s taking place is equivalent to a atrocity and it’s terrible.”
Wider Issues
Lawrence added by expressing that she was saddened by “the disrespect in the conversations of U.S. political debates currently and how that is going to be accepted to the children today. It’s going to be standard to them that politicians lie.”
Lawrence aimed to shift anger about the conflict to leaders rather than actors and artists. “Concentrate on those accountable,” she said, in what many took to be a reference to the then-recent pledge signed by numerous Hollywood professionals to avoid specific industry bodies.
Relatable Experiences
Jennifer Lawrence, who earned critical acclaim at a young age for her performance in the acclaimed film, is generating Oscar buzz for her portrayal in Die, My Love. While Lynne Ramsay has rejected the narrative being seen as one of post-birth struggles and psychological distress, the actress shared that she connected with parts of her character’s journey after the birth of her second son, not long after production wrapped.
“There was concern about my child,” she said, “envisioning every worst-case scenario, and then second-guessing everything that I was attempting. I was receiving counseling, but I began using a medication called Zurzuvae and I took it for a short period and it was effective.”
Professional Experiences
Jennifer Lawrence also mentioned about the empowering aspect of shooting revealing sequences in the film while she was in pregnancy and couldn’t work out.
“It’s refreshing,” she commented, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “Honestly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What separates me between my work and that profession? But it isn’t a major concern.”
